Two Takeaways 8-4

In Martinez and Stager's chapter on Invent to Learn, it was interesting to see the inexpensive ways to create inexpensive conductive materials. All you need is a recipe. It can be made without an oven which allows students to create their own. This is an excellent way of combining familiar materials with digital ones. One of my main concerns with creating a digital component to my classroom is the expense. This is a great solution to the problem. What I really like is that there are ways to do it in paint and clay. All you need is some easy to find materials and the creativity to create an interactive and thoughtful lesson.
Something else I took away is the use of composition of music in a digital world. It would be interesting to work with the music teacher if the class has one or have a music section in the art room where students can compose music in the creation of their art, if it is to enhance the art or to create sound art. I agree with the author that music is very important to students. Incorporating them into the classroom would be very beneficial. Melding the two will be important to me in my classroom.
